San Jose Mercury News: Opinion – Google's Buy of ITA Could Limit Online Travel Choices

Fifteen years ago, I led a team that created Travelocity. Nobody imagined the impact online search would bring to consumer travel. Online travel sites helped push airfares lower by giving people access and transparency into flight pricing and availability.
Now this progress could be reversed because of Google’s proposed $700 million acquisition of ITA Software, which powers 65 percent of all flight searches for airline sites in the U.S. The Justice Department has the authority to prevent this deal from hurting consumers and reducing competition, and I believe it’s important people understand its potential impact.
